Motivation is not deep enough if it's coming from a place of: "I want to look good for my high school reunion" or "I want to look good for my friend's wedding." 
While these can definitely be influences, it isn't enough when it comes to achieving body freedom. 
We're talking about permanently putting the whole challenge of losing weight behind you.
Your "why" doesn’t just mean an impulsive urge to lose weight (these bursts of motivation and excitement are often short-lived) 
To achieve true sustainable motivation you need a deeper, intrinsic reason that will push you through the hard times and keep you on track. 
A major principle to Body Freedom is finding your long term motivation. 
When your reason for wanting to get healthier or lose weight resonates with the things that are important to you it will make it so much easier to stick to your goals. 
What is your “why” for losing weight and getting healthy? It is a deeply important  one?

Often I hear clients be very critical of themselve Often I hear clients be very critical of themselves when they have a setback. 
​​​​​​​Their inner critical voice is labeling them as undisciplined, having no will power, thinking there is something “wrong” with them, feeling angry, upset, guilty, ashamed and the list goes on and on…..
Once that negative self talk starts it is very hard to take a step back and learn from the setback.
If one can learn from it then there is a very good chance they may be able to develop new strategies for dealing with what triggered the setback.
So what can you do to ensure this is a temporary hiccup and does not result in weeks of being off track, feeling discouraged and upset?

If you’re going into losing weight without a sol If you’re going into losing weight without a solid plan then you’re going to struggle.
Don’t go into it all loosey goosey or broad…
“I’m going to cut carbs or eat more protein or go keto or whatever” 
It’s not enough.
It’s not going to give you enough clarity on what you’re going to eat, when you’re going to eat, how much you’re going to eat etc….
You need clarity
You need structure.
Because that’s what’s going to get you to your goal and give you long term results 
and yes Body Freedom! 
Not having to think about every meal and what you’re going to do is going to give you so much more mental clarity and freedom!!! 
It’s so much easier to not falter. You don’t get caught unprepared at the end of the day or when things get hard. 
So go into your weight loss goal with a solid clear structured plan to achieve the best results.
Doing so will bring you one step closer to body freedom 🙂

If you’re more of a visual person, before and after photos could be all the motivation you need to keep on your weight loss journey.
I encourage all my clients to do this even though many are not too happy about taking their first set of photos. But once they see the difference in their next set of photos after 6 weeks and having lost a couple of sizes they are so proud of themselves. 
For the best comparison, wear the same or similar clothes and hairstyle in each photo. Have a friend or family member take photos from the front, behind, and each side.
Take new photos every four weeks and pin them on a board so you can track your weight loss progress.
I know when I lost my weight 9 years ago and I was encouraged to do before and after photos I was blown away from the images.

It’s not just about finding the perfect diet and hitting a target on the scale. To really have body freedom you need to have a solid plan. 
But what works for someone else isn’t necessarily going to work for you.
And (here’s the mind twist) what worked for you in the past might not work for you now 🤯
Our bodies change
We age and as we do so we have hormonal changes, metabolism changes, changes that affect the biochemistry in our bodies.
And that means what worked in the past may not work as well anymore.
You need to find something that works right for you and what you’re dealing with now. 
Which sucks, I know
But there are markers for what might work for your body and plans out there that will work for where you are now. That’s why it is great to look at all options and speak to a health professional who can determine what your current obstacles are and what you need to do instead. 
By having a plan that gives clarity and structure, you know what you're doing, when you want to eat and how much and what.
This will move you forward faster in the direction you want to go and give you more body freedom along the way.
