Once a person is over 40 and doing too much exerci Once a person is over 40 and doing too much exercise, especially of certain types, it becomes counterproductive. ⁠

But exercising in your 40s is vastly different from exercising in your 20s. ⁠

What happens is as they do too much exercise, they increase the stress hormone, cortisol and increases in cortisol blocks fat burn, often resulting in the Stress Belly. ⁠

Exercising is fantastic, the freedom of movement is amazing, it's a mood enhancer that brings clarity, but hours of exercising is an ineffective strategy for losing weight. If you’re over 40 and want to lose weight it’s better to look at alternatives rather than just exercise. ⁠
